Trend - Waves
L-R Burberry Prorsum, Balmain, Burberry Prorsum, Proenza Schouler
Waves are still rocking the catwalks from last season
however for AW12 we are looking at a more natural texture than the Vintage
Vixen style seen at SS12. Think bed-head, windy day hair and naturally dried
and your halfway there. Loose tonging on the ends for a flick and uneven
texture is key and investing in a good sea-salt spray (or DIY-ing your own)
will end up being your best friends.
Personally I adore a natural texture to waves as it is how I
wear my hair 80% of the time. Mix in a bit of the new seasons parting trends
and you are set to go!
Trend - Partings
L-R Dior, Lanvin, Roberto Cavalli, Rag & Bone
Partings will always be something to have but for AW we are
losing the soft blown out ideal and going for a neat straight part slicked to
perfection, no fly-aways here! So whether you will wear yours centred or to one
side, make sure it’s neat. If you are wearing a side part exaggeration seems to
be key. So don’t just go half-hearted most seem to be pushed as far as where
your eyebrow starts to bend down again, just make sure your face shape can
handle it.
Trend - Ponytails
L-R Anna Sui, Jason Wu, Ralph Lauren, Chanel
Trend - Twists
L-R Gucci, Fendi, Valentino,Rick Owens
While braids were all the rage at the SS12 catwalks twists
have taken over this season, with everything from a simple twist to keep the
hair out of your face to halos and buns. It is the easiest (and simplest) way to update your
style for the season.
Trend - Accessories
L-R Rochas, Rodarte, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta
Barrettes, Hair jewels and Head bands adorned the hair and heads of the models for AW12 and is the easiest way into the Opulence trend if brocade and patterned silks are not really your style. Make a head band with a silk scarf and antique broach, turn the same broach into a hair pin to clip some locks off your face or into a barrette for your own bespoke look.
Hope you like the trends. Show me how you wear them!

Well I've been doing all these, I must be mega on trend haha! But in all seriousness I went from a side parting to a centre parting which I've not had for years and I feel a lot more confident. I think with fine hair like mine if you have a side parting for too long you get that horrid comb over look.
ReplyDeleteyes, that is true. Good for you wearing the trends early! the only one i can claim is the messy waves, but thats my hair naturally. Though i did go all SS12 the other day and wear 40's waves inspired by Michael Van Der Ham models.
