Maybe it is my sweet tooth or the idea of luxury, maybe it’s
because I have been re-learning French or maybe it’s just because they were on
my bucket list but when I was visiting London Last week I treated myself to
some Macaroons from Ladurée. Everything about the little patisserie I visited
on Piccadilly end of the Burlington Arcade says decadence. Beautiful gold gilded
display cases, prices in gold renaissance inspired frames, towers of macaroons
and wonderful gift boxes for your purchases if you are buying for someone
special {or treating yourself like me}.
I decided to try Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Rose, Orange
Blossom, Lemon, Marie Antoinette and Salted Caramel. I think depending on your
tastes are I think depends on whether you will like them, I’m not a fan of
coconut {which I’m told is used to make them} however I did enjoy these. They
certainly wouldn’t be an everyday treat at £1.70 a Macaroon but as a one off
they were fantastic. The only ones I didn’t particularly like were Rose as its flavour
was so powerful and the Marie Antoinette.
Have you ever tried Ladurée?
